Nanohalen Oy develops arsenic rapid measurement for water quality monitoring with support from the ELY Centre

Nanohalen Oy has started a new development project with the aim of developing an innovative arsenic rapid measurement method for monitoring water quality. The project receives significant support from the development grant granted by the ELY Centre. The implementation period of the project is 1.7.2024 – 21.12.2025. The amount of development aid for the project is EUR 298,477.

New method for fast and accurate arsenic detection

The project will develop a test strip and an associated nanoparticle reagent that will enable fast and accurate detection of arsenic in water samples. This is particularly important in areas where the presence of arsenic in drinking water poses health risks. Traditional methods for measuring arsenic are often time-consuming and require laboratory equipment or complex cuvette tests. The new rapid measurement method provides a solution to this challenge, providing a quick and easy-to-use way to monitor water quality in field conditions.

Development of volume manufacturing ensures wide availability

The project will also develop a volume manufacturing method for the production of test strips in cooperation with Screentec Oy. This will ensure the possibility of serial production of test strips in the future, which will make test strips more widely available and cost-effective production, enabling its wider deployment around the world.

Support from ELY Centres enables significant development

The development grant granted by the ELY Centre is crucial support for the success of the project. It enables Nanohalen Oy to invest in research and development and cooperation with Screentec Oy.

”We are very grateful for the support of the ELY Centre. This grant will enable us to take a significant leap forward in the development of arsenic rapid measurement and bring our solution closer to the market,” says Ville Rautiainen, CEO, Nanohalen Oy
